Safe for Kids

Reviews and photographs from trips my wife Bert and I have taken as members of the Phoenix Society.  These reviews are, naturally, somewhat egocentric, and written in the third person as they are aimed at our six grandchildren.  It is hoped other Phoenix members who have been with us on these trips, as well as members who were unable to travel on them, will enjoy each trip from our point of view.

Most photos have captions, so one must either scroll down to read them or open the browser to full-screen size.  Trips taken longer ago were posted in a different way, with no thumbnail views or easy access to different groups of photos.  Later trips, beginning in 2004, are easier to navigate.

The complete photo gallery is being rebuilt as of February 2012.  To get an idea of the new table of contents, try this link to the photos.

Carnival Miracle Cruise from Baltimore -- a 1-week cruise aboard (at that time) Carnival's newest ship, September 2004.

Egypt and the Nile -- a 2-week trip which departed New York on 10 September 2005.  This particular review includes separate information for those considering this trip in the future.

The Golden Isles of Georgia and old Savannah -- A 1-week bus trip in June 2004.  Photos with captions only; no actual review.

Monticello and Michie Tavern  -- A 1-day bus excursion in October 2005, which included a short visit to Ash Lawn, the home of President James Monroe.

Please note: Other Phoenix Society members who would like to post reviews on this page are invited to do so. Simply e-mail your review and any photos in JPEG format for posting to me at roy@royfc.com. Let me know when you send the review and photos if you wish only your name or both your name and your e-mail address to appear with your review.

OTHER TRIPS
SOME SIMILAR TO PHOENIX TRIPS PAST OR TO COME

Alaska Cruise Tour-- A week by land, then one by sea, of the last frontier in early June 2007.

Carnival Conquest -- A cruise from (almost) New Orleans in 2003.  Actually, the ship sailed from Gulf Port, Mississippi, because  high waters on the river prevented this huge vessel from passing beneath some power lines.

A Week in Mexico -- January 2004 for my 60th birthday.  Included are photos taken during excursions to the ruins.

Panama Canal Cruise -- In and out;  a cruise all the way through the canal is yet to come.  Stops in Belize, Costa Rica, the island of Cozumel (Mexico) and Grand Cayman Island were included.  February 2005.
