Visited in summer 1976 by Grandpa Roy and his parents, Great Grandma Teenie and Great Grandpa Chase when Grandpa was still in the Air Force. Corbridge is known for its bridge, an impressive stone structure with seven arches erected in 1674 to replace one built in the 13th century.
When your grandfather and his parents visited, there was no barrier around Stonehenge and visitors could touch the stones. As it happened, people also climbed on the stones and some even defaced them, so the road was torn up that was next to it and a barrier put around it that prevented people from getting too close to the stones.
Windsor Castle is used as a weekend home for the monarch and is just about in downtown Windsor itself. Aunt Kelly visited the castle when she was 17 with Grandpa Roy when he was in England for a conference.
