There were not too many visitors.

The caverns were discovered when trout were seen to swim into the side of a hill.

The caverns had been the home to hundreds of bats; however, the white nose syndrome has killed off over 90 percent of them in Linville Caverns alone. This bat is about the only one visitors can see today.
