Dachau concentration camp, now a museum, on an appropriately very dismal day. Photographed in 1973.
Dachau. The foundation structures in the foreground represent where each so-called barracks was located. In the distance one restored barracks remains with a guard tower at the left.
The sculptue is designed to resemble barbed wire. But when one looks closer, the sculpture shows the many victims who committed suicide by jumping onto the barbed wire in attempts to escape. The sculpture is by camp survivor Nandor Glid.
