The photographs in this Pork Chop Hill collection were taken by my good friend, Byron G. "Cooke" Barnes, who served in Korea during the war there in 1953. Most of them are of the men with whom he served. Cooke was a combat medical aidman, Army MOS1666. He was on Pork Chop Hill three times with Fox Company of the 7th Division, 17th Infantry Regiment: beginning 18 April 1953, a few days occupying the hill in June 1953 and during the second battle that ran approximately from 1 through 5 July 1953.
The photos have been scanned at high resolution from small prints, approximately 3 inches by 5 inches in size and are reproduced at 96 dots per inch and are about 8 1/2 inches wide. Lengths vary. In addition, most of the photos had smears and spots in them that apparently were reproduced when the photos were printed from the original negatives. For the most part, with the exception of sharpening the photos a little or adjusting the contrast somewhat, little attempt was made to clean them up. They are as received.
My good friend and fellow airplane crony, Cooke Barnes, died 13 September 2018 at the age of 88.
