Ukrainian Defense Ministry Sell Su-24M Bombers for a Third of the Cost

    GIST.

The aircraft, which had been withdrawn from Ukrainian service, are worth 9.1 million dollars each, but the price has been lowered to 3.4 million in a contract already signed.  A lawsuit has begun to stop the sale.  Nonetheless, the possible buyer either is a member of the Commonwealth of Independent States (most likely Georgia) or a Middle Eastern country.

The Tu-144 -- The Worst Airplane

A rating of the worst airplanes in the world has been published. The Tu-144 heads the ten, dpmoney.ru reports.

They called this airplane the "Soviet Concorde." The Tu-144 (was) a supersonic passenger airplane. Its first flight took place in 1968.

In its short life (they finally wrote off the airplane in 1985 - editor's note), the Tu-144 endured three accidents. One - an aviation catastrophe - happened at the air salon in Le Bourget. The airplane crashed during a demonstration flight and all six crew members died.

Mostly they used the airplane to carry mail.

By the way, on the list of the ten worst also is a representative of American airplane construction - the Boeing XB-15 ((in English)) bomber.
