Today in Russian Aviation History. An Apology and Explanation from Your Friendly Translator Nearly 2 months ago I explained I would be absent for a short time as my rotator cuff was being repaired. Sadly, with the required physical therapy and restrictions on the use of my arm, the time off from the Russian Aviation News Translations has grown ever longer. One reason for not resuming is that I must support my arm as I type and that slows me down. In addition, the arm tires easily and it becomes very uncomfortable to type for very long. Finally, I have at least three appointments each week eating into my schedule. Besides the rotator cuff problem, other health problems not related to the rotator cuff have come to the fore. As a result, I will be unable for the foreseeable future to continue with the translations and for this (as well as the dearth of information since mid-August) I do apologize. It is my intention, when these health issues are behind me, to resume the Russian Aviation News Translations; however, nothing will be caught up. I will resume with news items found the day of that resumption. I presently have no idea when that date will be. I doubt it will be during the remainder of 2011. With any luck I will be able to resume some time in 2012. I would like to thank my faithful readers who have “hung in there” for so long. I regret I must stop. On the other hand, I seem to have stopped dreaming in Russian and I am not thinking in it as often. Good luck to all of you until resumption some time, I hope, in the future. P.S. The daily “Today in Russian Aviation History” feature as well as the old news translations and site search engine will remain on-line. --Roy Cochrun
